Creating a Magical New Year: Celebrations, Resolutions, and my Word for 2025
As the clock struck midnight, we celebrated the arrival of 2025 in our favorite way: an evening filled with good food, lively music, and dancing. Our favorite restaurant hosted its annual dinner and dance, complete with a Scottish twist—bagpipes. Thankfully, this year’s cooler weather was kind to both the bagpiper and the dancers, allowing us all to enjoy the night without melting in the heat.
The evening was full of laughter, the warm company of new friends, and even a taste of haggis for those feeling adventurous. Dancing the night away until our feet could take no more was the perfect way to welcome a fresh start. For me, New Year’s Eve isn’t just about celebration; it’s a time to connect with loved ones, reflect, and recharge before diving into the busy year ahead.
Resolutions and the Word of the Year
Like many, I’ve set some New Year’s resolutions—focusing on good health, better eating habits, and a consistent fitness routine. I’ll admit, fitness may be my biggest challenge, but this year I’m determined to carve out the time and stick with it. Alongside these goals, I’ve decided to prioritize me time. It’s so easy to let the busyness of life push personal well-being to the side, but this year I’m making it a priority.
I’ve also chosen a guiding word for 2025: create. As an illustrator, creativity is already a big part of my work, but this word is a reminder that creativity isn’t just limited to my professional life. It’s about embracing my hobbies and making time to explore other forms of creative expression. From sewing and mixed media art to gardening and bookmaking, I want to lean into the joy that creating brings in all areas of my life.
A Year-Long Project
This year, I’m also embarking on a year-long project that I’ll be sharing on Instagram from time to time. While I won’t reveal too much just yet, I’m excited to see how it evolves and adds another layer of creativity to my year.
Looking Ahead
As I step into 2025, I’m reminded that a new year is like a fresh canvas. It’s an opportunity to dream big, set goals, and work toward a balanced, fulfilling life. Whether it’s dancing until my feet ache, trying a new creative project, or simply taking a moment to breathe, I’m looking forward to a year of growth, joy, and connection.
What about you? Have you set any resolutions or chosen a word for the year? Do you think you’ll stick to them? Let’s cheer each other on as we embrace the possibilities of this new year!
Here’s to a magical 2025—may it be a year of health, happiness, and endless creativity!
